Job Summary:
As a Commi Level 1 Chef specializing in Indian cuisine, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of a variety of Indian dishes, with expertise in both gravies and tandoor cooking. You will be expected to maintain high-quality food standards, adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines, and work collaboratively with the kitchen team to meet culinary requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation: Prepare a wide range of Indian dishes, including gravies, tandoori dishes, and other traditional specialties.
Recipe Adherence: Follow established recipes and portion control procedures to ensure consistent food quality.
Tandoor Operations: Operate the tandoor oven effectively, managing temperature and cook times for various tandoori items.
Ingredient Handling: Ensure the proper handling, storage, and freshness of all ingredients, maintaining high food safety standards.
Presentation: Pay attention to the visual presentation of dishes, ensuring they meet the restaurant's standards for aesthetics.
Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff, assisting with food preparation, garnishing, and maintaining a smooth kitchen workflow.
Quality Control: Monitor food quality, taste, and consistency, making adjustments as needed.
Cleanliness and Hygiene: Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety and sanitation guidelines.
Inventory Management: Assist in inventory control, ensuring that necessary ingredients are available for daily service.
Adaptation: Be flexible and ready to learn new recipes and techniques to meet evolving culinary requirements.
Guest Interaction: Be willing to interact with guests when necessary, explaining menu items or addressing their special requests.
Training: Train and mentor junior kitchen staff as required.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Commi Level 1 Chef, with specialization in Indian cuisine.
Knowledge of Indian cooking techniques, gravies, and tandoor oven operations.
Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
