Salary range of $45,000 to $55,000 with lots of opportunity to grow.

Role Summary:

This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone who is ready to learn, ready to be challenged, has attention to detail and follow through. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the HR coordinator will receive practical hands-on experience in the various areas of Human Resources. The HR coordinator will gain valuable insight into the day to day operations of the company and provide support to key HR processes including, employee relations, performance management, benefit administration, recruitment, health and safety, employee culture, onboarding, as well as the opportunity to pursue personal learning goals in HR and beyond.


Important: This is not a remote position given the majority of our staff work out of our warehouse. We are open to discussion on start/end times each day to ensure an efficient commute and would consider one day remote per week.


What you will be doing:

Provide day-to-day operations and administrative support for the HR department, including: HR inbox monitoring and responses, personnel action form (PAF) management, benefits and perks, WSIB, health safety, employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and more.
Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., Ontario Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, etc.) and the collective bargaining agreement.
Monitor and update company policies to reflect changes in employment laws and regulations.
Manage the WSIB program by submitting all relevant documentation to WSIB, creating modified work opportunities, and partnering with case managers, and the employee to organize their return to work and follow up post-return.
Support workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and grievances in line with legal requirements.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
Manage the HR email inbox, addressing and triaging employee inquiries as required.
Manage Mama Earth’s Team Portal and Leadership Portal and ensure they are updated on a monthly basis.
Internal and external reporting on employee data, including HR KPI’s and liaising with external perk providers.
Lead the activities and responsibilities of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, working closely with committee representatives and management.
Spend time on the warehouse floor and build relationships with our team.

What you will bring to the table:

University degree or college diploma in Human Resources Management or postgraduate program in Human Resources Management.
Excitement and curiosity for our mission and what we do.
Ability to lead and manage difficult conversations, including performance discussions, conflict resolution, and sensitive topics.
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle and maintain confidential information and data integrity.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Detail oriented with excellent analytical and administrative skills.
Proficiency in Google Workspace such as Docs and Sheets, Microsoft Office such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, is an asset.
