Are you an OCT-Certified Teacher looking for part-time tutoring work after school hours?
Maybe you're on the waiting list to be an Occasional Teacher and looking to keep your teaching
ability current in the meantime? If you are, Step Up Academy of Learning is accepting
applications from qualified teachers committed to fostering and advancing student growth in
our classroom setting. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of the Ontario
Teaching Curriculum, a passion for teaching all students and the ability to inspire and motivate
students' growth.
This teaching position involves teaching part-time, with the opportunity to work full-time if your
schedule allows for it. We require teachers who are able to teach math and science a high school
level, but please make note in your application if you also have experience teaching English,
Science or Math at a Kindergarten to Grade 7 level as this is an asset.
Teaching materials and educational mentorship will be provided to teachers and tutors from
experience full-time teachers currently employed by a local school board. Successful applicants
will be teaching in an environment with a 1:5 teacher-to-student ratio.
Please note: This job is only open to candidates that are currently legally entitled to work in
Canada.
Required Job Skills:
Canadian Bachelor of Education degree from a recognized Canadian University or
College
Ability to teach at a high school level, specifically for math and science classes
Familiarity with the Ontario Teaching Curriculum
Previous teaching and/or tutoring experience (2+ years is preferred)
Excellent communication and time management skills
Demonstrated passion for the growth, development and overall learning for all students
Responsibilities:
Conduct each class in a detailed and structured manner, with student growth and
understanding as the main goal
Strong classroom management and teaching techniques
Understanding of the education industry as a whole, with a passion for innovation and
creativity
Approach each day and class with a student growth mindset
Collaborate and interact with the rest of the Step Up Academy team in a professional
and academically stimulating manner
Differentiate instruction and assessment practices to meet the needs of individual
learners.
