Director of Internal Events
Location: Cambridge (Hybrid – 1 day/week on-site + travel)
Salary: up to circa £130,000 + share options + benefits
Reports to: VP of Internal Communications Community
You’ve led large, multi-day events with a global footprint. You understand how to manage complexity without losing sight of the experience. You know how to handle multi-million-pound budgets, manage agencies, and work closely with senior leaders, including technical stakeholders And you’re confident stepping into a role where you’ll be trusted to lead, shape, and raise the bar.
We’re hiring a Director of Events to take ownership of a global internal events strategy at one of the world’s most influential technology companies. You’ll lead a close-knit team and oversee some of the most visible, culturally significant events the business delivers each year.
What you’ll be responsible for
• Setting and evolving the global internal events strategy
• Leading and developing a UK-based team of five
• Overseeing a portfolio of high-profile, multi-day events.
• Managing a multi-million- budget ($5m+), including contract negotiation, vendor relationships and financial governance
• Shaping the full delegate journey from initial engagement through to evaluation and feedback
• Introducing fresh thinking and process improvements, including AI where appropriate
• Working closely with senior leaders across the business especially engineering, commercial, and people teams
What you’ll bring
• Experience leading large-scale, multi-day events across global regions
• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and technically minded audiences (many internal stakeholders are engineers)
• A blend of strategic and operational experience you can lead at a high level but be willing to step in when delivery demands it
• Strong commercial and vendor management experience, including oversight of large budgets
• A collaborative leadership style that builds trust and brings out the best in others
• Creative, pragmatic thinking and a calm approach in a fast-paced environment
