Full Job Description
At South Coast Baptist College we seek to inspire and empower students to have a successful future beyond school by providing them with a curriculum and lessons that are engaging and effective in developing their knowledge, skills, attitudes and values.
The GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Coordinator will actively support the vision and values of South Coast Baptist College and lead by example in and outside the classroom. The GATE Coordinator will implement best practice in teaching and learning with the aim of continuing to support the extension, upward trajectory of achievement and academic excellence across Years 7-12.
The GATE Coordinator will have a 0.2FTE administration allowance and will be remunerated for the increased responsibility of the position as per the Secondary Salary Framework.
Position Description:
Develop and oversee the GATE program, manage academic testing and competitions, and provide student support.
Update curricula, support GATE teachers, promote best practices, and encourage student participation.
Organize and supervise GATE-related activities and competitions.
Implement policies, ensure high assessment standards, manage resources, and contribute to leadership meetings.
Foster teamwork, lead professional development, and induct new GATE staff.
Manage the GATE budget and expenditure, and ensure WHS compliance.
Position Requirements:
Skill or ability to provide the services outlined in the main duties and details of functions as detailed earlier in this Position Description.
Significant demonstrated excellence in teaching and an excellent understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, ATAR and General courses
Ability to integrate technology into teaching strategies.
Effective communication and collaboration skills across a range of levels including parents, students, staff and Administration.
Ability to contribute positively to the ethos and culture of South Coast Baptist College.
Ability to collaborate with staff and contribute to a close-knit team approach.
Initiative and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
Ability to cope in stressful and demanding situations.
Essential Criteria:
To have a personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.
To actively be a part of a Church or Christian community and exemplify Christian beliefs, behaviour, and practices.
To accept the College’s Statement of Faith.
Build co-operative and supportive relationships with the board, principal, staff, students and parents.
Work to ensure personal best practice.
Ensure that decision making is based on fact and is impartial and fair.
Model the use of appropriate and proper channels of communication.
Always act in the best interest of the College and its ethos.
Adhering to all policies and procedures outlined by SCBC.
First Aid certificate.
Working With Children Card.
