Salary depends on TQS category and years of experience. Range is $60,625 - $106,217.

Academic Strategies - Secondary

The LA / LD teacher takes on teaching responsibilities for assigned Strategies blocks. In Grades 10-12, this includes using BAA course criteria.

This role includes developing, assessing, and reporting on IEPs for assigned students. This may include students on outreach and Student Learning Plans for students without formal Ministry designations.

The LA/LD teacher works collaboratively with content area teachers including coordinating efforts to support student success. This includes sharing information teachers can use to support students enrolled in Strategies (e.g.: IEPs, Student Learning Plans, general UDL strategies).

Qualifications

Diploma or Master’s in Inclusive Education (focus on Learning Disabilities or equivalent) OR at least 3 courses in the area of Learning Assistance and Learning Disabilities.
Use a strength-based approach and a UDL framework to enable student access to curriculum learning in the classroom environment.
Teach students with identified Ministry of Education special needs designations.
Develop and implement IEPs.
Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, Education Assistants, and community service providers.
Have qualifications to undertake Level B assessments.
