Position: Fractional Role - HR Operations Compliance
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced HR Operations Compliance Consultant to support a one-time strategic HR initiative with potential for ongoing retainership. The primary objective is to realign the salary structure and establish end-to-end HR operational processes to ensure compliance and efficiency in monthly payroll, statutory contributions, and employee communication.
This role is ideal for an HR professional with a strong understanding of Indian statutory compliance, payroll structuring, and process design.
Key Responsibilities:
Compensation Structuring
Review and realign current salary structures
Make a structure for new hirings.
Check and ensure compliance with statutory norms and optimize for tax efficiency
Statutory Compliance Setup
Set up and/or verify systems for Provident Fund (PF), ESIC, and employee insurance
Ensure proper registration, documentation, and monthly filings
Payroll Process Setup
Design standard monthly payroll processing workflows
Define timelines and responsibilities for data collection, approvals, and disbursement
Documentation Communication
Standardize formats and schedules for:
Salary slip generation and distribution
Investment declaration collection and review
Tax proof submission process
Generation and issuance of Form 16
HR Operations Manual
Document all newly established processes and create a user-friendly SOP guide for internal teams
Training Handover (if project-based)
Train internal HR or admin personnel on the newly designed processes
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in HR operations, payroll, and compliance (preferably in Indian SME/startup context)
Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory compliance (PF, ESIC, Gratuity, etc.)
Experience with payroll systems (e.g., Greyt
HR, Keka, Zoho People, etc.)
Excellent documentation and process design skills
Attention to detail and a consultative approach
Engagement
Terms:
This can be either a one-time project (approx. X weeks/months) or a monthly retainership based on mutual agreement and scope.
Compensation to be discussed based on experience and engagement model.
