Responsibilities
In this role one will promote and practice safe work habits while performing basic repairs and services on light, heavy duty, and diesel trucks; road construction and maintenance equipment; hydraulic systems; and electrical components
Diagnose and Repair – Diagnose, repair and complete basic tasks on a variety of equipment types such as tires, brakes, lighting, pumps and valves
Use basic scan tools to read and clear check engine light codes
Preventative Maintenance - Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to the preventative maintenance schedule and guidelines
Maintain Documents and Records - Prepare, process, and maintain required maintenance and repair documentation
Generate documents and work orders in computer system
Perform time and leave entry in appropriate systems
Perform Manual Labor – Perform manual labor to complete assigned tasks
Complete assigned tasks and projects as instructed
Safety shoes and other personal protective equipment (PPE) required in performance of job duties
This position is designated as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include, but are not limited to, inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations
Performance of these duties may require work outside of normal business hours including nights, weekends and holidays
VDOT will determine when essential positions are required to report
