The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the Bureau's EHS functions, ensuring compliance with environmental safety and health rules and regulations, and promoting a positive EHS culture within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs that foster a positive EHS culture.
Investigate and respond to employee safety concerns.
Perform occupational safety and health investigations, facility audits, accident investigations, and job hazard analyses.
Prepare reports and/or review reports, make recommendations on future actions, and follow up.
Provide technical guidance to Bureau staff that promotes safety and health in our workplaces.
Requirements
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 30 semester credits in the physical and/or biological sciences.
At least two years of satisfactory full-time experience performing inspections to assure compliance with pertinent laws, rules, and regulations governing the areas of food, drugs, and general environmental conditions.
