About Mackenzie District Council (Team Mack)
At Mackenzie District Council we work together as a team to deliver the best outcomes for our district. We are crafting new ways of working together, and each one of us has an essential role in making our district the best place to live, work and play.
This could be the first step on a journey that sees you living and working in this iconic part of New Zealand. People travel from all parts of New Zealand and the world to experience our back yard with its geography dominated by the iconic Aoraki Mount Cook, and Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki provide a fantastic opportunity to escape the urban sprawl. With only a 45-minute drive from Timaru, you get the best of both worlds – experience the seaside in the city and the mountains in the mighty Mackenzie!
As part of Team Mack, we want to work as a team to deliver the best outcomes for our district. We’re crafting a new way of working together here at Council and we think each of us has a key role to play in making our district a great place to live. We do that by giving superb service to our customers, working together as a group, building a culture where we can all contribute our ideas, and by focusing on our outcomes.
About the Role
We are on the hunt for an experienced, passionate, and driven person to join Team Mack in the Engineering Officer - Transport role.
The Engineering Officer - Transport is a key role and is responsible for coordinating and managing the use of the road corridor and providing administration and technical support to the Roading Manager and Engineering Manager. It involves the day-to-day supervision of Councils physical works contract and ensuring these works are appropriately recorded, meet quality standards and are safe. The role includes supporting the Council’s asset information in GIS and other database systems, including RAMM.
About You
You will be a go getter with a passion for continuous improvement and the desire to work collaboratively to meet outcomes for key stakeholders of Mackenzie District Council. In addition, you will have:
At least 2 years’ experience working in a technical support role
Diploma in Civil Engineering (not essential but highly desirable)
A keen interest in pursuing a career in Civil Engineering and/or Local Government
A current and full drivers’ licence is essential
Proficient user of MS Suite and have superb computer literacy
Ability to work well in a team and is a confident written and verbal communicator
This is a full time, permanent role (40 hours per week) based in Fairlie, South Canterbury. So why don’t you come live, work and play in the mighty Mackenzie. Apply now!
Applications close 5pm, Sunday 27 July 2025.
