Job Description: Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS)
Location: Vedansh Hospital, Dadri
Reporting to: Hospital Director
Type: Full-Time, Leadership Role
Position Overview
The Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) at Vedansh Hospital, Dadri will play a pivotal leadership role in establishing and managing the hospital’s clinical and operational systems from inception. the DMS will be expected to work in a hands-on, cross-functional, and strategic manner, supporting every aspect of medical and allied services, ensuring excellence in patient care, team management, regulatory compliance, and process implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Governance Medical Oversight
Support the Medical Superintendent in establishing high standards of clinical governance and ethical medical practices.
Ensure implementation of clinical protocols and assist in SOP development across departments.
Conduct regular clinical audits and implement quality assurance systems for all medical services.
Hospital Operations
Coordinate and oversee all clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
Create and streamline operational workflows to minimize delays in patient care.
Establish coordination channels between departments like Pharmacy, Diagnostics, Nursing, and Admin.
TPA Patient Support Systems
Set up and supervise the TPA department from scratch, ensuring robust documentation and claim management processes.
Serve as a liaison for TPA audits, queries, and escalations with insurers and patients.
Ensure smooth onboarding and management of all panel patients including Ayushman, CGHS, ECHS, PSU, and TPAs.
Regulatory Compliance Accreditation
Lead efforts to ensure 100% compliance with applicable healthcare regulations from day one.
Prepare hospital for NABH entry-level accreditation during Phase 1.
Liaise with external audit bodies and oversee documentation for licenses, fire NOC, BMW management, etc.
Human Resource Staff Leadership
Recruit, train, and mentor RMOs, medical officers, and department heads during hospital setup.
Ensure round-the-clock coverage in key areas (Emergency, ICU, Wards).
Enforce discipline, professional conduct, and periodic performance appraisals.
Strategic Planning Policy Implementation
Participate actively in short and long-term planning meetings related to services, specialties, and patient acquisition.
Develop, review, and implement hospital-wide policies ensuring alignment with the management’s vision.
Quality Patient Safety
Lead initiatives to monitor and improve patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes.
Chair the quality and infection control committees in absence of MS.
Handle medico-legal cases in collaboration with legal and ethics committee.
Emergency Disaster Preparedness
Build emergency response protocols including escalation matrices for night-time and holiday operations.
Conduct training drills for Mass Casualty Management and Code Blue responses.
Budgeting Resource Optimization
Support budgeting for clinical departments; identify cost-saving opportunities in pharmacy, consumables, and diagnostics.
Monitor consumption patterns and work closely with procurement and store teams.
Key Competencies
Strong leadership and team-building capabilities
Excellent decision-making in clinical and administrative scenarios
Knowledge of hospital systems, NABH standards, and TPA protocols
High ethical standards and patient-centric approach
Proficiency in EMR/HIS systems and data-driven management
Eligibility Criteria
MBBS with post-graduation in Hospital Administration / Health Management preferred.
Minimum 7–10 years of hospital experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or administrative role.
Prior experience in new hospital commissioning will be an advantage.
