What you'll be doing
The Department of Physiotherapy provides a high-quality service to all children and families referred to Physiotherapy. The department includes Physiotherapists and allied health assistants, and works closely with administrative support staff. The staff work together to provide a safe, appropriate, effective, efficient and responsive service.

The Deputy Head of Department works in collaboration with the Head of Department and provides leadership to ensure excellence in Physiotherapy service provided to babies, children, young people and their families within SCHN. This involves assisting with the day to day management of the Department of Physiotherapy and the promotion of a culture of continuous improvement, education and training, evidence based practice and research.

Management duties include direct supervision of staff, including the physiotherapy assistant(s); assistance with budget management, data collection and statistical reporting, staff recruitment, orientation and personnel management; coordination of equipment and stock levels in the department; relevant maintenance and WHS processes, and security procedures.
The deputy contributes to strategic programme reviews and service development, and updates physiotherapy policies and procedures. They take an active role in identifying areas of clinical practice that could be developed and/or opportunities for clinical change.

The Deputy Head of Department additionally manages a tertiary clinical caseload in a complex mutidisciplinary team and with liaison as needed to outside physiotherapy agencies and local services. This involves practicing as per established professional physiotherapy standards according to the relevant Codes of Conduct and appropriate Registration Act.
