Summer Camp Kitchen Helper

The Adventure Earth is inviting applications for the casual full-time position of Overnight Camp Cooks for the Adventure Earth Programs.

Successful applicants will be responsible for planning, organizing, and cooking meals for participants at the Adventure Earth Programs’ overnight camps. In conjunction with the Camp Director, Menus are set according to traditional program needs and objectives, are youth-friendly, sustainable, and budget-conscious. Kitchen Helpers will assist the camp cook in meal prep, kitchen cleanliness and serving.

On-site accommodations and meals are provided during program times only.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist with preparing and serving meals and snacks for groups of 35-65 participants and staff in a overnight camp setting
• Completing all dishes and full kitchen clean up related to food preparation
• Working as a team

Education and Experience:

· Current Food Handlers Certificate (Asset)

· Experience in large volume cooking (Asset)

· 1 year + of Culinary education (Asset)

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:

· First Aid Certification an asset

· Experience in camp cooking/camp life an asset

Conditions of Employment
• Applicants must be willing to obtain WHMIS training
• Applicants must be willing to attend all orientations/training sessions (dates to be determined)
• Copies of certification must be submitted upon hiring
• Transportation to and from camp is the candidates responsibility. Carpooling may be arranged
• Accommodations provided are in a single room in a shared cabin.
• Accommodations include indoor showers with hot water

Supervision:
• Kitchen Helpers are supervised and mentored by an experienced cook, who has been working at camp for over 10 years
• The Camp Director has had their Nova Scotia food safety certificate and has overseen the operations of the kitchen for several years.
• The Camp Director has done large group cooking and managed the cooking for many years and has developed many policies, procedures and processes that will help guide the cooks.

Security Clearance Requirements:
• Applicants must complete screening through the Child Abuse Registry and a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check

Please note – Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.

Job description

Patene Building Supplies Ltd. is a distributor of drywall, steel framing components, insulation, acoustic ceilings, shingles, masonry and other building materials for the residential and commercial construction industries. We have thirteen (13) branch locations throughout Ontario Manitoba to serve our contractor, builder and retail customers.

We are currently seeking a Delivery Helper that will load, unload, and move materials in the warehouse, yard and work sites for our St. Catharines branch.

Responsibilities

•Ensure all PPE is worn and required materials and equipment on trucks is checked and ready for delivery
• Participate in unloading materials off trucks (repetitive heavy lifting and working at heights will be required)
• Assist driver with verifying and strapping of loads; ensure safe and timely delivery and pick up of material to and from locations
• Assist driver on site as required (backing, set up) – ‘flagman responsibilities’
• Ability to work indoor, outdoor and at various heights (rooftop deliveries)
• Occasional delivery of materials on our own small flatbed truck ("G" license required)
• Adhere and follow company’s Health Safety policies and regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Job Requirements:
• High School diploma
• Working at Heights certificate
• Must be dependable and a team player
• Ability to communicate with co-workers, vendors and customers (verbal and written)

YOU MUST HAVE A VALID G LICENSE
