Job Summary:
The Dean of the School of Science is the chief academic and administrative officer of the science faculty/college. They are responsible for the leadership, strategic development, and management of all academic departments and research units within the faculty. The Principal plays a critical role in enhancing the faculty’s national and international reputation for excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership Management
• Develop and implement the faculty’s strategic plan aligned with the university’s overall vision and goals.
• Lead the faculty in academic innovation, research advancement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Promote a culture of academic excellence, diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Academic Oversight
• Ensure high-quality curriculum design, program delivery, and assessment across all science disciplines.
• Foster a research-intensive environment that supports faculty and student research projects.
• Promote integration of new technologies and methodologies in teaching and learning.
Administrative Financial Management
• Oversee faculty budgeting, resource allocation, and operational planning.
• Ensure effective management of academic staff, infrastructure, and student services.
• Monitor compliance with university policies, accreditation standards, and external regulatory requirements.
External Engagement Representation
• Represent the faculty in university governance and external academic or industry partnerships.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders including alumni, funding bodies, and governmental agencies.
• Promote the faculty's achievements locally and globally to attract students, staff, and funding.
Staff and Student Development
• Support recruitment, development, and retention of high-quality academic and support staff.
• Encourage professional development and performance appraisal systems.
• Advocate for student engagement, welfare, and academic support services.
