Database System Administrator
Job Description
The successful candidate will have a strong background in database administration, with expertise in Microsoft SQL Server. They will be responsible for ensuring the high availability of databases, including the implementation of Always On and other high availability technologies. The DBA will also be responsible for ensuring data backup and recovery processes meet business Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
Key responsibilities include:
• Implementing and managing Always On configurations to ensure high availability.
• Ensuring backups are properly configured and tested to meet RPO and RTO requirements.
• Troubleshooting SQL Server service outages and implementing corrective actions.
• Configuring monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms.
• Choosing the most suitable high availability technology for new systems.
• Installing and configuring new SQL Servers.
The ideal candidate will have experience with SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 201+, and 2022. They should also have knowledge of clustering services (MSCS), log shipping, replication, mirroring, and Always On.
