Database Administrator
This position will be based out of our Indore office 5 days a week.
Position Summary
The Database Administrator role will work within Vena’s SaaS Operations team to provide day-to-day care and feeding of Vena’s databases, and with a primary focus on making sure all the DBs are performant, , secure, reliable and cost effective. The ideal candidate would be responsible for the full stack, which includes the data, DB application, OS and infrastructure configuration.
Databases Vena Uses
• AWS RDS (MySQL)
• Azure Database for MySQL
• MongoDB
• Amazon Redshift
• Amazon Redshift Spectrum
• Microsoft SQL Server
What you will do
• Provide proactive, and reactive maintenance on all the DBs
• Ensure all DBs are being backed up, and those backups are stored and maintained securely
• Champion best practices and good data hygiene practices
• Suggest performance tuning such as altering schemas, adding indexes, or changing software and hardware configuration
• Monitor for slow queries, excessive locks, or other traffic that could affect DB performance
• Be the SME to consult on topics such as vendor selection, technology evaluation and use cases
• Assist with ETL related issues
• Escalate when required to 3rd party vendors who can provide additional support
• Manage projects that involve cross-team coordination such as upgrades, migrations, or new builds
• Ensure proper security controls on all data
• Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
• Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
• Other duties as assigned

• Proven working experience as a Database Administrator
• Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications
• Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL
• Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding practices
• Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third party tools
• Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically
• Experience with Microsoft Azure
• Experience with Amazon Web Services
• Experience working with a SaaS provider
