Position Overview

We’re seeking a skilled and passionate Custom Fabrication Painter with 4+ years of experience in painting, ideally in custom fabrication or automotive applications, to join our highly skilled fabrication team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on intellectually and physically challenging work, loves tackling varied tasks, and excels at problem-solving to achieve exceptional results. Collaborating with senior fabricators, you’ll contribute to production excellence and uphold our commitment to flawless quality.

Key Responsibilities

Apply high-quality paints and coatings to custom signage using air and spray guns from mixed buckets, ensuring flawless finishes.
Meticulously prep the paint booth and surfaces, eliminating dust and contaminants to prevent defects.
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings for precise paint application.
Mix and color-match paints to achieve consistent, high-quality results.
Collaborate with fabrication and assembly teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Troubleshoot paint issues (e.g., fisheyes, overspray) with efficient, creative solutions.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe paint booth, following safety protocols.
Mentor junior team members, sharing expertise to uphold quality standards.
Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of experience in painting, preferably in custom fabrication, signage, or automotive applications.
Proficiency in mixing, color-matching, and applying paints using air and spray gun systems from mixed buckets.
Expertise in booth prep, including cleaning, masking, and dust control to ensure defect-free finishes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Familiarity with industrial or signage paints and related equipment.
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in varied conditions (e.g., hot booth environments).
Strong commitment to quality with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate and mentor others.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
CWB certification or ASE Painting certification is a plus but not required; Atec offers certification opportunities.
