COOK/CHEF
SETTING: Residential Care Home, Amersham HP6
1 mile from Amersham station - Metropolitan Line (Tube) and Overground Rail
WEEKEND DAY SHIFTS (Sat + Sun 8am – 3pm)
RATE: From £16.00
DESIRABLE: Previous cooking experience, ideally in a care home, is desirable but not essential
What we are looking for
You’re reliable and fully competent in all aspects of kitchen duties and are able to produce a variety of menus, taking into account individual allergies, dietary and food preparation requirements as well as likes and dislikes.
You’re someone that cares for others and wants to make a real difference to people’s lives. Ideally, you have some experience in a care environment, although this is not as essential, as training is provided. You understand there will be challenging days, but you’ll also laugh, have fun and make lasting memories with our residents and your colleagues. A great communicator, you’ll enjoy working in a close-knit team that feels like a family, with people from all walks of life. You’ll cherish the rewarding moments you have with our residents each and every day.
You may not have worked in a care home before, and that's fine, we can support you and give you all the training and guidance to help you succeed, and if you want this to be your new career then we would be happy to support you through completing relevant QCF (or other) qualifications.
What you’ll do
Prepare menu in line with allocated food budget.
Prepare, cook and serve meals chosen by service users from the menu for the day, taking into account individual allergies, dietary and food preparation requirements as well as likes and dislikes.
Prepare varied, appropriate, high quality meals without undue wastage.
Document daily menus and food choices
Store all food and equipment safely
Manage stock and check ‘use by’ dates regularly
Prepare food orders from suppliers
Ensure kitchen equipment is kept clean and ready for use and ensure that all cleaning rotas are completed and handed to the Registered Manager.
To be aware of risks to service users from the kitchen equipment.
Comply with company policy and procedure in relation to infection control and prevention.
The successful candidate…
Will hold at least a level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene or be willing to complete it.
Is able to demonstrate an ability to manage pressure, prioritise tasks and communicate effectively at all levels.
Genuine interest or experience in working in a care environment.
