Position Summary
Our construction practice involves all phases of construction projects, representing all parties, including contractors, suppliers, design professionals, and a wide range of specialty trade subcontractors. With 1,000 industry clients, our practice is national, with a strong presence on the East Coast.
Attorneys will be required to analyze facts and perform legal research and writing pertaining to questions of law arising from private and public construction matters. Typical duties will include the drafting of pleadings and motion practice (on both state and federal venues), as well as bid protests and claims before various tribunals, boards and agencies. This position also requires providing litigation assistance to trial counsel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Conducts comprehensive case assessments, including legal research, factual investigation, and evaluation of claims and defenses.
• Drafts, files, and responds to pleadings, motions, and other court documents in compliance with applicable rules and deadlines.
• Manages all aspects of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission, as well as taking and defending depositions.
• Prepares for and represents clients in court proceedings, including hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Develops litigation strategies and case plans in collaboration with clients and legal teams.
• Represents clients effectively at trial, including conducting direct and cross-examinations, presenting evidence, and making persuasive oral arguments.
• Engages in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes, advising clients on potential risks, benefits, and outcomes.
• Prepares trial materials such as exhibits, witness outlines, jury instructions, and trial briefs.
• Maintains regular and clear communication with clients, keeping them informed on case status and strategy.

• Identifies and explores key details/concepts that are factual and legal.
• Excellent customer service skills, responsive, and proactively updates clients.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong oral advocacy, with the ability to support the facts, law, and briefs of both sides.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities and personalities.
• Actively builds a professional network through various professional and trade organizations, with the proclivity to generate business.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Experience Requirements
• Juris Doctor degree.
• Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, and preferably at least one other jurisdiction, in good standing, in one or more jurisdictions.
• Must maintain CLE requirements and license renewal.
• Four plus years of construction or commercial litigation background.
• Strong academic credentials (preferably law review).
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the state and federal civil procedures.
