About the Role:

The Interpreting Service is based at Manukau Health Park and services the requests of all Counties Manukau District inpatients, outpatients, and community interpreting requirements as well as any external client requests from the Police, Ministry of Justice and other agencies predominantly in the South Auckland region.

As part of a supportive and collaborative team, you will play a vital role in ensuring effective communication between healthcare professional and patients.

We currently have two opportunities available for:

Chinese Interpreter (Fluent in English and Cantonese/Mandarin)
Indian Interpreter (Fluent in English and Hindi/Punjabi/Gujarati)
We are a 24/7 service provider and as a casual Interpreter we require you to be available at short notice as well as being able to complete pre-booked appointments. Ideally you will be available for work on an on-call basis Monday–Sunday.

About You

The ideal candidates will need to have;

Preferred but NOT essential - AUT Certificate in Liaison Interpreting (Health and/or Legal) or have NAATI accreditation at Level 2 or 3
Fluent in English and Cantonese/Mandarin or Hindi/Punjabi/Gujarati
Knowledge of the NZ healthcare system and/or medical terminology
Provide consecutive interpreting services via face to face, telephone, and virtual remote interpreting
Able to demonstrate excellent customer service
Working at Health New Zealand
