About The Position
BGIS is seeking a Qualified Carpenters and Apprentice Carpenters to join our Dunedin Trades Team. This is a hands-on role supporting maintenance, renovation, and upgrade projects across both residential and commercial environments.
We also welcome applications from individuals who have Completed their Pre-trade Certificate in Carpentry or Construction Trade Skills and are looking to commence their apprenticeship.
BGIS supports the growth and development of emerging talent and provides real-world learning alongside experienced tradespeople.
Key Responsibilities
Carry Out Maintenance: Perform regular servicing and repairs and renovations on residential and commercial sites
Install and Upgrade Systems: Complete installations and upgrades of joinery, linings, cladding, doors, cabinetry, locks, flooring, and fixtures
Work With Other Trades: Collaborate with Plumbers, Electricians, and other trades on shared tasks
Communicate With Clients: Maintain clear and professional communication with clients
Ensure Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety rules and building regulations
Support Projects: Assist with renovations and upgrade projects from start to finish
Demonstrate Leadership: Provide constructive feedback to the Site Foreman Internal Delivery Manager and support a culture of continuous improvement on site
What You’ll Bring
NZ Certificate in Carpentry, Construction or an equivalent recognised qualification
Hold a valid NZ Carpentry Registration and Practising Licence (LBP)
Experience in residential maintenance, upgrades, or renovation projects
Sound knowledge of Health Safety practices and compliance obligations
Ability to use iPad and mobile apps for time task reporting
A Full (Class 1) NZ Driver Licence and reliable transport
