About this Opportunity
As stewards of the campus, Facilities Management (FMGT) fosters and enriches an inviting and functional environment that welcomes and supports all who come here. Facilities Management’s customers include Deans, departments, faculty, staff and students. The department’s branches work together as a team to ensure a high standard of customer service delivery, as well as the provision of capital projects, and effective, efficient and safe performance for the operation and maintenance of campus buildings.
Sessional employees work full time hours on a part year basis; this sessional position would work 7 months per year, with the term recurring annually.

Job Summary
Under general supervision, provides journeyman level skills in carpentry to complete construction and repairs according to work orders and plans. Repairs and renovates furniture and fixtures using hand and power tools. Ability to produce high quality product, including application of laminated plastic surfaces. Repairs roofing, erects framing, applies sheathing and trim to interior and exterior surfaces. Keeps records of time and material used by project. Maintains tools, equipment and supplies used. Reports repairs required to supervisor. Maintains safe working conditions.
Job Requirements
Must have completed apprenticeship and hold current Trades Qualification. Journeyman (M/F) level skills and demonstrated proficiency in performing carpenter trades tasks. Good working knowledge of local building codes and practices. Sufficient strength, stamina and coordination to perform a variety of routine heavy manual and machine operation tasks. Valid B.C. driver's license required to drive light truck in performance of above duties.
