Full job description
Onocon Group is seeking a full-time Carpenter/Form Setter to join the team. As a Form Setter/Carpenter, you will take on a role in executing high-quality formwork, framing, and carpentry tasks. Your work will be critical in ensuring that our projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all safety and quality standards.

Qualifications/Skills

· Experience in Carpentry in residential, commercial, or industrial construction.

· Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, formwork, framing, and finishing work.

· Proven experience leading and mentoring a team of carpenters and form setters on construction sites.

· Ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and schematics.

· Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment (e.g., laser levels, saws, drills).

· Ability to estimate material needs based on project requirements and ensure proper procurement and usage.

· Honest and forthright character

· Good communication skills

· Accomplish tasks with no supervision.

· Attention to detail and always alert to ensure safety policies and understand quality control procedures.

· Ability to perform in a collaborative, team-based environment.

· Proficient with GPS/Laser layout system.

· Effective time management and multi-tasking skills.

· Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing and, access to a reliable vehicle.

· Post Secondary carpentry/construction building courses are an asset.

· WHMIS (mandatory)

· Working at Heights (preferred)

Responsibilities

· Lead and execute the installation of concrete formwork and wood framing for foundations, walls, and other structures.

· Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to accurately construct formwork and framing for various construction projects.

· Ensure that materials (wood, concrete, rebar, etc.) are properly selected, measured, and installed based on project specifications.

· Care, clean, and organize form material tools in shop, vehicles and at a job site.

· Resolve any challenges related to formwork, carpentry, or construction processes quickly and efficiently.

· Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition

· Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles and/or equipment and immediately notify supervisor

· Mentor and guide junior carpenters and form setters, providing on-the-job training and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

· Maintain a clean and organized worksite, ensuring tools and materials are stored safely and the area is free of hazards.

· Must always be in uniform and maintain a standard of personal hygiene.

Work Conditions

· Work is primarily outdoors, with occasional indoor tasks. Employees will be exposed to various weather conditions and work environments, including confined spaces and heights.

· Use of PPE is mandatory at all times on the job site, including hard hats, safety vests, gloves, and eye protection.

· The employee will be exposed to and working near moving materials, power tools and heavy equipment.

· Able to lift 50 lbs overhead and meet the physical demands of the job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
