Bus PSV Technician
Job description
An opportunity has become available to join Corserv as a PSV Technician. At our our modern Newquay workshop we provide a fleet maintenance and repair service to one of the leading bus operators in the country (servicing a large fleet of around 160 buses that operate throughout Cornwall).
We are looking for a skilled, reliable and motivated individual, with a technical background. If you are currently working outside of the bus industry, inhouse upskilling is available.
About the role
In role, you will:
• be responsible for maintaining fleet vehicles to DVSA and customer standards
• undertake a variety of tasks from routine servicing and filter changes, diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults, through to light body repair, fabrication and welding
• diligently carry out routine safety inspections of vehicles to DVSA and customer standards and document work electronically (operating workshop software)
• work with manufacturer diagnostic equipment and repair procedures
• attend roadside breakdowns to help keep buses running in service; also attending outstations to repair minor defects found by drivers
• ensure that all works undertaken are carried out in accordance with Health Safety Policy and Fleet Engineering Workshops Safe Working and Quality Assurance procedures, whilst also in a timely manner on a ‘first time fix’ basis
• be responsible for and ensure that equipment used within the workshop is maintained in a safe condition and uphold good workshop housekeeping
• work together and communicate well with our friendly team, apprentices, other departments and customer staff to ensure smooth flow of operation
If you are from a car background and upskilling is required for you to confidently work on buses - we currently have staff who have come through this route - the salary offered will be revised whilst training in being undertaken.

About you
You will ideally bring to the role:
• a City Guilds (level 3 or higher) or NVQ 3 equivalent in a relevant discipline
• previous experience as a skilled mechanic, working in a vehicle/ bus or plant repair workshop (or in an equivalent trade environment)
• an understanding of and experience with relevant industry documentation
• knowledge of COSHH Health and Safety at Work Act
• be a qualified/ certified MOT Tester and ‘O’ Licence inspector, or demonstrate a willingness to achieve this
• have a full UK Driving Licence (and a full basic tool kit, tool allowance is paid)

Salary: £41,402 (plus tool allowance and opportunities for overtime)
Contract Type: Permanent, Fulltime
Base: Newquay
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Early shift (04:00 - 14:30) / late shift (13:30 – 00:00) - 3 days on shift, 2 days off shift rotation with two in five weekends off
