Job Title: Auto Technician Assistant
Under general direction of the Service Manager, this position is primarily responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and servicing heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. The technician may also assist with the maintenance, repair, and service of automotive equipment.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and experience in repairing automotive and heavy equipment systems. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as proficiency in computer use for data entry and diagnostic equipment operation.
The work environment will be in a shop setting with exposure to chemicals, dust, gases, or fumes, loud noise levels, and extreme temperatures. The employee must be able to wear protective clothing and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
The UC Davis Fleet Services manages a fleet of vehicles for the UC Davis Campus in Northern California. The department has approximately 870 fleet-owned vehicles with an acquisition value of over $20 million and another 600 department-owned vehicles, carts, and trailers maintained by Fleet Services.
This position is subject to a pre-placement medical exam and completion of a background check. The final candidate will be required to disclose any misconduct and complete a misconduct disclosure requirement.
