Summary
Baylor Medicine, Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine is looking for a highly motivated Athletic Trainer in the secondary school setting. The athletic trainer performs duties in assessing, preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical injuries to the student population. Serves as patient liaison and community educator. We are seeking AT's who are willing to provide high-quality AT Services to include but not limited to; injury prevention, quality on-field care, appropriate injury referral, and educating our affiliates and community.


This position will require participation in the SPC conference, which includes travel out of city one to two times per sport season. Also travel during the season. Will require availability to work evening and weekend hours on a weekly basis. The ideal candidate must have the ability to do lifting up to 60 pounds, endure long periods of standing, physical labor, and adapt to environmental conditions.

Job Duties
Assists lead athletic trainer to develop plans for providing athletic training coverage at all athletic events identified in Athletic Training Program.
Coverage Policy for Second Baptist School.
Assists in stablishing and maintaining a budget for athletic training supplies/equipment.
Assists in the development maintenance of comprehensive venue and condition specific emergency action plans.
Assists in the administration of an athletic training student-aide program in accordance with the school’s clubs and activities guidelines.
Establishes a working relationship with lead athletic trainer, athletic director, designated team physician, clinical staff, and community physicians.
Establishes a working relationship with school nursing staff.
Completes policies training provided by Baylor and the school.
Maintains adequate medical records on all injuries and rehabilitation procedures.
Performs onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including: prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation.
Communicates with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes.
Complies with any and all policies regarding health care delivery as indicated by the school systems regulations, and outlined in the Athletic Injury Management section of the school’s athletic training program policies and procedures manual.
Responsible for administrative and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Helps in the planning of coach’s professional development for CPR/AED, Concussion, Heat Illness, Sudden Cardiac Death
Participates in daily discussions with lead athletic trainer.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
One year of relevant experience.
State Licensed Athletic Trainer by The Texas Department of Licensing Regulation (TDLR).
Preferred Qualifications
Education Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field.
NPI Number.
Current CPR/AED Certification for the Professional Rescuer/Healthcare Provider.
Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC).
