Job Description

As an Assistant Accountant, you will work very closely with the business owner by managing daily accounting tasks with various tasks, including but not limited to processing transactions, maintaining financial records, and preparing reports. This position requires a commitment to maintaining accurate and timely financial information. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail. This role is a full-time position, mainly home-based with the requirement to regularly travel into our Glasgow City base for staff and client meetings. There is an opportunity for the role to be a part-time position to the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts.
Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Process client payroll and pensions.
Assist with the preparation and filing of VAT returns.
Assist with the preparation and filing of personal tax returns.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all financial data.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Assist with the preparation of client financial statements.
Requirements

At least 2 years proven experience as an Assistant Accountant within an accountancy practice environment.
Strong understanding of basic bookkeeping, debits, credits and a balance sheet.
Excellent understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles.
Proficiency with accounting and bookkeeping software, and excellent knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word and PDF.
Excellent with numbers and an analytical acumen, possessing a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Preferable

BSc/Ba in accounting, business, finance, or relevant field.
Working towards final stage of professional exams with ICAS, ACCA or CIMA.
