The Role
The COMSEC Operations Support Officer will work in support of the Defence Communications Security Equipment Authority’s (DEFCOMSECEA) Operations Cell. They will exercise initiative and judgement in interpreting and applying relevant Australian and Defence Communications Security (COMSEC) policy and procedures, with particular regard to the movement of High Assurance Cryptographic Equipment (HACE).
As the COMSEC Operations Officer, you will be accountable to help to coach, support and develop junior members of the Operations Cell and will responsible to provide detailed and professional COMSEC advice. The role will also support and assist with the administration of the inventory management system for HACE known as CARDS (COMSEC Accounting, Reporting and Distribution System). The roll will require a considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will be required to liaise with various Projects, Programs, Units and Agencies across the COMSEC enterprise regarding complex issues.
About our Team
The Information Assurance Systems Program Office (IA SPO) is part of the Joint Command, Control, Communications and Computer Systems Branch (Joint C4S) within the Joint Systems Division (JSD) of the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG). IA SPO is responsible for the procurement, management and support of select cryptographic equipment for Defence and partner organisations. IA SPO’s Operations Cell interfaces with Programs, Units and organisations across the cryptographic enterprise and specialises in the movement of this equipment and the surrounding policy controls.
