The Role
The APS 5 Data Analyst role includes writing queries to extract and manipulate data, development of routine reporting outputs, and maintaining and improving existing queries and reports.
This role would ideally suit individuals that are team focused and enjoy problem solving and data analysis. You will need to be familiar with, or able to become proficient in, data retrieval and interrogation tools including Cognos Analysis Studio, visualization and analytics tools such as Tableau and Power BI, as well as intermediate features of Microsoft Excel. As a Data Analyst, you will also engage with a range of stakeholders across the organisation. About our Team
The Directorate of Workforce Analytics within the Workforce Strategy Branch is an integrated team of APS and ADF. The team is responsible for retrieving, visualising, and analysing complex datasets to support a combination of routine report development and evolution, combined with project-type work to retrieve organisational insights from data.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our Ideal Candidate will have:
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify, investigate and interpret trends, and provide solutions that drive change;
Experience using, or willingness to learn, reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel, Cognos;
Experience with, or willingness to learn, visualization tools (such as Tableau, Power BI, and/or Power query) including building and managing dashboards and reports;
Experience in, or willingness to learn, constructing, extracting, interrogating and analysing data sets and database queries using a range of software (such as Cognos and other SQL based software);
The ability to work independently to manage and analyse data while effectively collaborating with team members to achieve shared goals;
Well-developed communication skills to effectively convey complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in various written and verbal formats;
The ability to plan, manage and prioritise the tasks to ensure timely delivery of outputs.
