Administrative Support III
Your Opportunity:
The position is a front-line administrative role, connecting with the public in the Calgary Zone and supporting front line Public Health Inspectors in their community work. Working under minimal direct supervision, the successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility and show initiative in a busy, high-pressure office by providing administrative support for program activities relating to the Environmental Public Health (EPH). Some of the many varied responsibilities of this role include handling questions and concerns from difficult clients; resolving complex information requests; maintaining and managing electronic files and records; supporting special projects; ordering and maintaining office supplies and equipment; frequent communication with internal staff, external agencies and members of the public; preparing agendas and taking minutes for provincial committee meetings; and troubleshooting/basic maintenance of specific office equipment. The successful candidate must have the ability to respect the confidential nature of healthcare information, handle confidential client information, and carry out duties with frequent interruptions and timeline constraints. Knowledge of basic public health risk assessment is a strong asset as urgent issues/complaints must be communicated to Public Health Inspectors in a timely manner. The successful candidate will be required to provide occasional back-up support in other EPH program areas to help cover vacations and/or other staff shortages.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, Excel Adobe, SharePoint Online. Demonstrable conflict management competencies. Demonstrable organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Self-directed and self-motivated. Ability to work at a fast pace. Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality. Minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute. Position requires a hybrid working environment with a minimum of two days working within an office environment in Calgary Zone. Handling food coolers, lifting up to 50 pounds. Handling bottles samples cooler, lifting and loading on high surface. Prolonged periods sitting at the desk and working on a computer.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Environmental Public Health EPHIS database strongly preferred as well as, Genesys, Connect Care.
